'Trailer Park Lives' filming in Myrtle Beach

First it was "Eastbound & Down" and "Jersey Shore" which made stops to film in Myrtle Beach and more recently NBC's "Revolution" set up shop at Freestyle Music Park.

Now a brand new show called "Trailer Park Lives" has taken notice of Myrtle Beach as a spot to film its brand of reality TV storytelling, profiling a mobile home community dubbed "Myrtle Beach Manor" just off Highway 15 up the road from Myrtle Beach International Airport.

While some in the area are happy for the added exposure television shows provide for Myrtle Beach, the news of the show coming to Myrtle Beach has also prompted many folks to ask if this is the type of activity that perpetuates the "Redneck Riviera" stereotype that has characterized our area over the years.

It's all too easy to pre-judge things. Maybe folks should just wait and see this show before making assumptions about it and what type of characters the cast are. You just might find out that just because they're in a trailer park in SC doesn't equate to being rednecks.
